Album Designer - How Hard Can It Be?

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

This weekend I read Jeff's blog at PhotoWalkPro about a fun little project that has been making the rounds. I haven't personally seen it on Facebook yet; so I thought I'd get it going with some of my friends. The idea to use Photoshop (or similar) and some random titles and words to create an album cover for a fictitious band. So here’s how it works:

1 - Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random
or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to “Random quotations
or http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days
or http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. Give credit to the photographer.

4 - Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5 - Post it with this text in the “Body” and TAG the friends you want to join in.

The above photo is the one that I made from the exercise. I got lucky and happened upon a beautiful photo in flickr by Larissa °LaLi

Tara Whitney Photo Collage

>> Thursday, February 19, 2009

As is pretty evident on my page, Tara Whitney took photos of my family last summer. She was awesome, she was amazing with the kids and we have some amazing photos in the house. I recently downloaded a free program called shape collage and I thought it would be fun to use Tara's photos to pay a little tribute to her. The Shape Collage program allows you to make any shape you like and save as a jpg, png or even as a photoshop document for further editing. Unfortunately, the photos are really small in the collage above so you can't really appreciate them, but it's still kind if fun (if you click the photo above it opens on a new screen and you can see the individual pics better). Be sure to check out Tara's updated web-site or her blog; she is now offering home videos along with her photo packages which sounds like a lot of fun!

I *heart* faces: Pets

>> Monday, February 2, 2009

OK, there is also a photo contest for pets this week. When we were in Scottsdale a couple weeks ago, I saw this HUGE dog with an amazing face at the Rock n Roll Marathon. In between cheering on the runners I kept staring at the dog. I finally got the courage to ask the owner if I could take some photos and she agreed. I found out it's not so easy to photograph dogs because they move around a LOT; but, here is my favorite.

I *heart* faces: The Eyes Have It

OK, I didn't win the last contest at I *heart* faces, but I am going to try again this week. This is a photo of my son (SOOC); I could photoshop it to make it pop more, but this is what he looks like so I'm going with it just the way it is. I love this photo, especially his eyes; I hope you do too! At least these contests are getting me to update this neglected blog once a week.
